CLUB 17 PEACE INITIATIVE INAUGURATES MEDIA COORDINATORS IN 17 LGAs OF ABIA STATE
As foremost NGO whose vision is geared towards the orientation of the citizens and dissemination of factual and truthful information within the country. Club 17 Peace Initiative yesterday in Umuahia inaugurated a seventeen man media team, made up of seasoned media personalities across the 17 Local government area of Abia State.
The Chairman, Chief Engr. George Nnanna Kalu while introducing the media coordinators charged them to be proactive and harmonious in the discharge of their duties. He also reiterated the NGO’s commitment to their warfare during the event.
The oath office was administered by Barr. Chukwuemeka Ogelle who thereafter charged members of the media team to diligently do their job in accordance with the constitution of the peace Initiative and with utmost conformity with the rules of media practice and the Nigerian Constitution.
In his response on behalf the media team, the media coordinators,the coordinator representing Aba south LGA. Mr. Augustine Alozie thanked Club 17 Peace Initiative for finding them worthy to work in such capacity and promised that the team will meet and surpass their expectations while working in tandem with the stated rules.
It will be recalled that Club 17 Peace Initiative had last year inaugurate a five man peace corp marshal in each of the wards in Abia State. This she did in bid to drive home the importance of peaceful coexistence among Nigerians which is in line with the ideologies of Rt Hon. Ben Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives.
Prior to the inauguration, the state media Coordinator of Club 17 Peace Initiative, Hon. Okey Iboko stated that the team will need collective and individual support from the members of NGO in their respective LGA’s to be able to work efficiently. He also promised to synergize with the team.
The virality of fake news and its attendant disastrous effect can not be underestimated. Hence with this move,Club 17 Peace Initiative has prepared herself to exterminate false narratives and to give Abians and Nigerians right and accurate information that is not sensationalised.
