GOV ENO OFFERS NEW LEASE OF LIFE TO VISUALLY IMPAIRED MAN IN NSIT ATAI
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has presented a furnished two bedroom bungalow and N500,000 startup grant to Mr. Sunday Etim in Ndansit, Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
The brief handing over, which took place Thursday June 19, 2025 amidst cheers and emotions, marked the official flag-off of a new phase of the Compassionate Homes Initiative.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Lady Emem Ibanga, who represented the Governor, emphasized the Governor’s passion for lifting the downtrodden and ensuring rural development.
Lady Ibanga noted that through the Arise compassion homes initiative, the Governor has already delivered over 200 homes, with six completed in Nsit Atai alone.
She reiterated the Governor’s commitment to delivering 400 homes across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state within the first term of the administration.
“Governor Umo Eno is a man who means well for the people of Akwa Ibom State. That is why he created the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to reach the unreached, to care for the forgotten, and to give voice to the voiceless. Today, even the blind can feel the light of governance,” she said.
In a project overview, Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Services, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, described the Governor as a Compassionate Leader whose projects have made a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals.
He said the ARISE compassionate home is fully-furnished, equipped with solar-powered amenities, 24 hours electricity, along with an external kitchen.
On his part, Personal Assistant to the Governor on Persons Living with Disabilities, Comrade Ubong Ikpe, described Governor Eno as an ‘apostle of inclusion,’ noting that under his administration, three persons living with disabilities have been appointed and over 3,000 have been enrolled in the ARISE Care Programme.
Responding, the visibly elated beneficiary, Mr. Sunday Etim Obot, who had lived with his six children in a dilapidated thatched mud house under extremely difficult conditions expressed gratitude to Governor Umo Eno for the gesture and prayed for God’s unending blessings upon the Governor and his family.
The event attracted several stakeholders, community leaders, and well-wishers led by the Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government, Hon. Prince Tony Nyong, who commended the Governor for bringing government closer to the grassroots and assured him of their support and solidarity ahead of future political aspirations.
