President General Ofeme Progressive Union Federated High Chief Raymond Onyinye Ofoegbu Commends President Tinubu, Host of Others For Making Federal College of Education Ofeme A Reality

The Governor,Dr Alex Otti has pleged to make accessible the Okpara- Ofeme-Ohuhu road leading to the federal College of Education Ofeme-Ohuhu recently handed over to the federal government.

Governor Otti made the commitment during the official hand over of the 25 hectares land for the Federal College of education Ofeme-Ohuhu held at the Ofeme Technical College ,Umuahia north LGA to the federal government for the take off of the College by September this year.

Represented by The Commissioner for education professor Uche Eme Uche, Governor described the project as timely especially now that the state is in dare need of professionals to fill in various vacancies in the sector and expressed the hope that the institution will end up being a leading center for the training and retraining of teachers across the country.

Governor Otti assured that his administration will partner the federal government in all aspects to ensure that the school lives above board as he has set up a 4-member committee headed by the SSG Professor Kenneth Kalu to ensure the school meets up the deadline of taking off September this year as proposed by the federal government.

He said beyond producing valuable manpower, the institution holds a promising future for the socio-economic prosperity of Ohuhu,Umuahia North and the entire state and promised to provide adequate security to the area.

In a Speech, the Minister of Education Professor Tahir Mamman represented by Dr
Uchenna Ubah said that the project stands as a testament to the federal government’s dedication to addressing the educational needs of the populace and ensuring broader access to quality education and one that underscores the unwavering dedication of President Ahmed Tinubu to the renewed hope agenda in revitalizing the teaching profession in Nigeria.

Professor Mamnan also said that the College was envisioned to become a center of knowledge, innovation and inspiration for aspiring educators, assuring that with the collaboration of the Dr Otti’s administration the ministry will work out an educational system that will be a beacon of achievements for future generations.

In his remarks, the Mayor Umuahia north local government Council Chief Victor Ikeji while expressing the commitment of the council to the success of the project, also urged the federal government to consider upgrading the College to a full University after its take off.

In an address of welcome, the Pioneer Provost Dr Titus Ezeme said that the event marks the begining of a new era in the educational landscape of the state and Nigeria at large, noting that the decision by the federal government to establish the college in Ofeme-Ohuhu an Agrarian community will create opportunity for academic advancement and catalyze socio-economic development of the area.

He thanked Governor Alex Otti for his contribution towards the successful visit of the ministerial committee ,a support which he described as a dedication to advancing education in the state and to Chief Ikechi Emenike for initiating the noble project.

In their speeches some prominent traditional rulers in Ohuhu land including The Chairman Ohuhu Council of traditional Rulers Eze Charles Ngwuli, the traditional ruler of umudiawa ancient kingdom HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, the traditional Ruler of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Eze Paul Uzuegbu and Eze Ndigbo of Kosofe Lagos Chief Ifeanyi Anyaogu while describing the project as a welcome development as it will create job and open the area for greater economic opportunities,thanked Governor Alex Otti for granting the federal government access to site the federal institution in Ofeme,-Ohuhu.

Chief Ifeanyi Anyaogu an illustrious Son of Ofeme particularly thanked God for using President Ahmed Tinubu ,Governor Alex Otti among other stakeholders to making the project a reality and assured that he will join hands with other stakeholders in area to protect the facility which he described as the starting point of greater things for the community.

In an address, the President General Ofeme Progressive Union Federated Chief Raymond Ofoegbu who’s address was read by Comrade Obioma Oburuoga said that the occasion marks a significant milestone in the journey towards providing quality education to the community and appreciated President Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Alex Otti and host of other stakeholders for making the project a reality.
