*NADCEL 2026 PUBLIC SPEAKING LECTURE SERIES: 14 BRIGADE NIGERIAN ARMY ENGAGES STUDENTS IN ABIA*
In continuation with series of activities lined up to commemorate the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026 and in line with Army Headquarters (AHQ) directives, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) held a Public Speaking Engagement event. During the program, students from Ibeku High School Umuahia benefitted immensely from the insightful event.
The engagement took place on 1 July, 2026 at Ibeku High School as part of the Nigerian Army’s drive to highlight career opportunities in the NA, criteria for selection and enlistment, advocacy against cultism, drugs and substance abuse, as well as corporate social responsibilities undertaken by the NA with the aim of projecting the good image of NA as a formidable instrument of national unity and integration.
In his opening remarks, the Commander, 14 Brigade, Brigadier General AM Dikko ably represented by the Brigade Education Officer 14 Brigade, Major J Opadijo disclosed that the NA has been in the forefront of fight against insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality across the nation. It also brought out the needed for public support, cooperation and acceptance to restore normalcy across the nooks and crannies of the country. He also showcases the career opportunities available in the NA and draws the attention of the youths to the benefits attached to joining the military.
In his vote of thanks, the principal of Ibeku secondary school, Elder Ekele Ndemba applauded the Nigerian Army for bringing such gesture to the school. He further stressed that the lecture series were insightful and beneficial to the students and will oblige in the future when the Nigerian Army comes calling.
The event was declared opened with the airing of a docu-feature on the NA provided by Army Headquarters Department of Civil Military Affairs (DCMA) to commence the event. Subsequently, lectures on advocacy against cultism, drugs and substance abuse, patriotism, honesty and criteria for selection and enlistment in NA, civil military relations and projects undertaken by the NA amongst others were delivered to the audience following an interactive session where questions and answers were entertained.
Highlights of the event included remarks by the representatives of the Commander 14 Brigade and the principal of Ibeku secondary school, refreshment, vote of thanks and group photograph.
