*NEW ABIA CP PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO 14 BRIGADE, SEEKS STRONGER SECURITY COLLABORATION*
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Afolabi Friday, 28 August 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General AM Dikko, at Headquarters 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Abia State. The courtesy visit formed part of the Commissioner’s stakeholder engagement following his assumption of office as the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command. It also provided an opportunity for the newly appointed Commissioner to formally introduce himself to the Brigade Commander and discuss areas of mutual interest in maintaining peace and security within the state.
Speaking on the purpose of the visit, CP Wilfred Afolabi intimated the Brigade Commander on his vision and areas of priority for the Abia State Police Command, particularly issues concerning peace and security, intelligence gathering and sharing, community safety outreach, and enhanced police visibility.
The Commissioner emphasised the importance of effective intelligence gathering and information sharing among security agencies as a vital component of preventing crime and addressing emerging security challenges. He noted that stronger cooperation between the Police, the Nigerian Army and other relevant stakeholders would contribute significantly to maintaining peace and security across the state.
CP Afolabi also highlighted the importance of community safety outreach, stressing the need for the Police to maintain closer engagement with members of the public. He noted that such engagement would help build trust, encourage the timely sharing of useful information and foster a stronger relationship between the Police and the communities they serve.
Responding, the Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General AM Dikko, warmly welcomed the Commissioner of Police and his delegation to the Brigade. He congratulated CP Afolabi on his assumption of office and expressed his readiness to support initiatives aimed at strengthening security and peaceful coexistence in Abia State.
Brigadier General Dikko assured the Commissioner of the Brigade’s continued support and cooperation, stressing that a coordinated approach among security agencies remains essential to effectively addressing security challenges and protecting lives and property.
Highlights of the visit included signing of the visitor’s book, presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph which reaffirmed both security agencies commitment to stronger partnership, intelligence-led security, community engagement, police visibility and collective efforts towards sustaining peace and security in Abia State.
