AN ODE FOR DEE ONYEMA AT 80

The irredescence from his fadeless smiles
Reflects many hues of hope for men on clashing tides

He who champions class effacement
I’m pleased to be amongst his book’s content

When his light came into my life
through a part of me in shards
I embraced the rays and wrote my name in full.

Then somewhere along the niggling ache of painful darkness
He provided succour and I started again to feel life’s sweetness.

Deedem Onyema is a book, and God is the Author.
A patriarch, who traditionally is a man with impeccable integrity

Many are those whose ruffled wings he straightened
To many others, he created new brand wings for them to fly.

He wears the garb of uncommon humility
That makes him a heroic rallying point for all men of good conscience.

A patriot of valor, who still retains the savvy of morals
To keep political hyenas at a distance.

“SLOW” but rugged
Articulate yet determined with immeasurable passion for education, excellence and distinction.

A legend pen maker whose scribbling and dribbling pen can even lighten the face of a badly wounded gorilla.

He has a tremendous charisma so adorable
And can paddle his audience till eternity with smoke of words so admirable

Deede m, as you clock EIGHTY
I praise your Creator for finding you worthy for longevity.
