The revered traditional ruler strongly condemned the brutal killing of an elderly couple, Jacob and Comfort Udo, by unknown assailants in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State….
In a statement released on Thursday, the custodian of the peoples tradition called on law enforcement agencies to carry out a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He described the beheading and murder of the couple as deeply despicable, callous, and wicked.
Eze Ofoegbu further noted that several properties were stolen from the victims’ home and urged the police and other security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation to uncover the motives behind the attack.
“As traditional rulers, we are shocked and saddened that the perpetrators of this heinous crime—individuals with evil intentions and cruel hearts—would carry out such a barbaric and horrific act against a peaceful and loving elderly couple, who could have easily been parents or grandparents to their attackers,” he said.
“The senseless and horrific nature of this killing is deeply inhuman and vicious. The reports of this despicable act evoke pain, anger, and a need for nationwide condemnation.
Tragically, Nigeria has continued to witness similar incidents across the country, with mean-spirited individuals committing bloodshed and extrajudicial killings against innocent, law-abiding citizens,” the royal father added.
Eze Ofoegbu called on governor Alex Chioma Otti to enact a law empowering traditional rulers using traditional means to fish out this criminal elements who are living among the Communities, adding that as the custodian of the tradition they can assist the government in various ways to checkmate crimes if empowered.
