The leadership style of Hon. Sam Onuigbo, Governing Board member and Chairman Committee on security, special interventions and climate change of North East Development Commission (NEDC) which centred on selfless service and hard work has continued to keep him afloat both in national international events even after his outstanding and brilliant performance in National Assembly as house member that represented Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constitutency.

First, his appointment into Governing Board of North East Development Commission NEDC and most recently his nomination as Climate Action 30 Global Leaders 2023 have shown keen recognition of this his selfless service hard work in searching for solution to challenging situations facing the society. As the sponsor of Nigeria’s Climate Change Act 2021 often refered as “Sam Onuigbo Act, he lobbyed, consulted, used every avenue and contacts to ensure environmental and climate solution.

His nomination as Global Leader on Climate Change is in recognition of his inspiring work as a climate leader in Africa which has seen him sponsor and push for assent of the Nigeria Climate Change Act 2021; drive legislative action on climate change across Africa and the world; and persistently champion the mainstream of climate considerations in development plans through lectures, papers, and lobbying.

As a governing board member of NEDC, the commission and Nigeria at large has more to benefit from his brilliant ideas, contributions, selfless service and astuteness.
