Going To The Federal House, We Will Do Things Differently” — Dr. Chima Anyaso Says as he Donates Brand-New Ambulance To Bende
As he prepares to celebrate his 46th birthday tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has donated a brand-new, fully equipped ambulance to strengthen emergency healthcare delivery in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
Dr. Anyaso who made the donation on Tuesday described the gesture as part of his longstanding tradition of celebrating his birthdays by giving back to the people and supporting community development.
Speaking during the presentation, the philanthropist said the initiative was a demonstration of his commitment to the people of Bende and also an encouragement to the administration of Governor Alex Otti in its ongoing investments in the state’s healthcare sector.
“This is my sincere pleasure and honour to give back to the land that gave birth to me. Every year on my birthday, I celebrate with people. I do outreach,” Dr. Anyaso said.
He recalled that during his 45th birthday, he donated vehicle materials, food items and other support to the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Umuahia, while also supporting nursing students at the Abia State Teaching Hospital.
According to him, the decision to focus on healthcare this year was informed by the need to strengthen emergency response and healthcare delivery within his constituency.
“This year, we chose to support the healthcare sector in my own constituency, Bende. This is the first ever ambulance in Bende, and it is also a brand-new one,” he stated.
Dr. Anyaso observed that several healthcare facilities in Bende, including some of the recently renovated health centres, lacked dedicated ambulances to facilitate emergency transportation and referrals.
He said the donation was also intended to encourage the state government in its efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and services across Abia.
“This is also an encouragement to His Excellency, the Governor of Abia State, who has been investing heavily in the healthcare sector,” he added.
Speaking about his aspiration to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr. Anyaso said his record of private investment in education and healthcare demonstrates his longstanding commitment to community development.
He recalled that about 20 years ago, he established a modern free nursery and primary school in his community, an initiative he said has continued to operate for two decades.
“20 years ago, we built a modern, free nursery and primary school in my community and have run it for 20 years. Today, we have also broken another record as the first private individual to invest heavily in healthcare in Bende,” he said.
On his vision for representation, Dr. Anyaso said he would prioritise transparency, accountability and responsible utilisation of public resources if elected.
“Government-funded projects are not personal money. Going to the Federal House, we are going to do things differently. We will ensure the people hold us accountable. Everything due to the people, we will bring to the people and they will know the source and how it is being used.”
He also stressed that federal projects attracted to the constituency under his representation would be pursued in accordance with due process and the law.
Dr. Anyaso criticised what he described as substandard projects and contracts in the constituency, saying that his administration, if elected, would insist on quality and proper execution of projects.
“Going to the Federal House, we are going to bring change. We are going to do things the way it should be done, in standard form,” he stated.
Dr. Anyaso further disclosed that the ambulance donation is only one of several activities planned to mark his 46th birthday.
He said he would also extend gifts and support to workers in Bende Local Government Area and students of his alma mater under his free education initiative.
“This is what we do. This is what they know us to do. There is no ambiguity about it,” he maintained.
The Abia State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya-Uche, described the ambulance donation as a significant contribution to healthcare delivery in the state.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services in the state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwakanma, said the donation would complement the state government’s efforts to establish a functional emergency medical service and ambulance system.
According to him, the state government has invested substantially in emergency healthcare, adding that the intervention by Dr. Anyaso would further strengthen the system at the grassroots.
“It is not just the donation of a vehicle. It is an effort to save lives, and it supports the state government’s drive to ensure that emergency medical services get to the grassroots,” he said.
Also speaking, the Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Deacon Uwabunkeonye Bassey, commended Dr. Anyaso for the initiative, describing the ambulance as an important addition to healthcare services in the local government.
The Mayor said the donation would complement the efforts of the Abia State Government, noting that Governor Alex Otti’s administration had reconstructed 16 health centres in Bende Local Government Area.
He added that more healthcare projects were expected in the local government.
The presentation of the ambulance formed part of the activities surrounding Dr. Chima Anyaso’s 46th birthday, with the intervention highlighting his stated commitment to supporting education, healthcare and other community-focused initiatives.
