NIGERIA HAS THE CAPACITY TO FEED THE WHOLE WORLD – REP. JIMBO

The Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on National Planning and Economic Development and Honourable Member Representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, Rep. Clement Jimbo have reiterated that Nigeria has the capacity of feeding the whole universe because of the rich agricultural heritage of the country.

The Federal Lawmaker stated this today while delivering a message of goodwill on behalf of the Chairman, House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka whom he represented at the just concluded official launch of the National Agricultural Sample Census Report 2022 at Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.

Rep. Jimbo posited that Nigeria is a blessed Nation with diverse agricultural heritage which if properly utilized, would feed the World and inturn strengthen our econony through exportation to other countries of the World.

He further hinted that NYSC should live up to the act establishing the Agency decades ago through training and channelling the energy of our young graduates into farming so as to boost food sufficiency and security in our Nation.

Hon. Jimbo, stated that there could be no better time than now for Nigeria to have a statistics of those in the agricultural sector to enable the government support them to expand the sector so they can be food for all in abundance and equally commended the National Bureau of Statistics for a job well done, pledging the support of the National Assembly to the Federal Government Agency to do more.

The event recorded eminent Nigerians, International Organizations, Government Agencies and Organized Private sector in attendance which includes; Honourable Minister for Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of State, Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Senator Abdullahi Yahaya, Hon. Clement Jimbo, Permanent Secretaries, Ministry of Agriculture and Budget/National Planning, Country Director of World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, OVP, USAID, FMWR, ARCN, Director Generals, Farmers Council amongst others.
