Strategic Engagement : Rep. Mark Esset opens collaboration with Speakers of States Assembly.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Hon. Mark Esset has today, 16th May, 2024 engaged with the leadership and membership of Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly (CoSSHA) as part of the ongoing meeting of Speakers of State Assemblies held in Abuja.
As part of his remarks, Rep. Esset urged the Speakers for more collaboration with the National Assembly so as to address common challenges facing Nigerians.
The Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal representative also charged State Houses of Assembly to be more proactive as the House of Representatives embark on the review of the Nigerian constitution, which he described as a monumental task.
Rep. Esset encouraged Speakers and States Assembly to get involved in International parliamentary organizations such as the CPA and IPU, among others to drive more gains to state legislatures.
On his part, the Chairman of the Conference and Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin thanked the federal lawmaker for his continuous push for healthy collaborations between the House of Representatives and the States Assembly. Mr. Ogundoyin on behalf of the forum promised the cooperation of the state legislature with the Federal Assembly to drive more dividends for Nigerians.
Rep. Esset was accompanied by Major(Hon.) Rabiu Kamba Rtd. and Mr. Idowu Bakare, among others.
