Umuahia North LGA Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council Meets Deliberate to Foster Development

The Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. High- Chief Victor Ikeji on Tuesday 12th December, 2023 met with the members of the Umuahia North Traditional Rulers Council.

During the advisory meeting with the monarchs at the Traditional Rulers Council Chamber at the Local Government Secretariat, the traditional rulers under the leadership of HRM Eze Sir Innocent Adiele Nwaigwe appreciated the governor for choosing a person in the calibre of High -Chief Victor Ikeji, Kpakpando Umuahia Gburugburu as the Mayor of Umuahia North.

The traditional rulers also thanked the Mayor for accepting to serve the people. According to them, his track record and personality is well known and they are certain that accepting the job of a mayor is not a money making venture for him, but a call to serve .

On the welfare of the Traditional rulers, Eze Nzewata Mbakwe and Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu who spoke on behalf the monarchs, said they are already familiar with Mayor Ikeji and they are confident he will prioritize their welfare .

The Chairman of the traditional rulers council, Eze Nwaigwe, however called on the Mayor to support traditional rulers to tackle insecurity in their domain. He also complained of the deteriorating conditions of their chamber in sought the intervention of the Mayor.

Mayor Ikeji in his response, appreciated the traditional rulers for their warm reception. He said even before his appointment he had always had a good and cordial relationship with the traditional rulers in Umuahia and beyond: He promised to prioritize their welfare.

High Chief Ikeji assured them of his resolve to give the entire council a facelift and bring about transformation in the LG.

He however urged them to take responsibility as well as protect government projects and properties within their domain. He frowned at the level of vandalization of public properties, especially schools, and stated that his administration would not tolerate any destruction or vandalization of government properties. He called on the monarchs to take charge of these properties and ensure their safety. The monarchs thanked him and wished him a fruitful tenure.

The Deputy Mayor, Hon. Amah Okechukwu Anthony, the secretary to the LGA, Dr. Mrs. Edith Iheoma, the Chief of Staff, Prince Goodluck Ohazuruike, the Director of Protocol, Rex Ugbaugu, Chief Security Officer Supl.Ibeabuchi Kingsley Ikechukwu and SSA on Special Duties, Chief Chinedu Obilor all accompanied the Mayor to the meeting.
