The President General Ohuhu welfare Union (OWU) Elder Okechukwud Johnson Uwazie has called for on hands to be on deck in the efforts towards the socio-political and economic development of Ohuhu land.
The Ohuhu- PG made the call while interacting with the press on the forthcoming 2023 “iri egwu Ohuhu” slated for Friday 29th December 2023, said that the event is instituted to promote the rich cultural heritage of Ohuhu land,as well as preserve her tradition and values.
While describing Ndi Ohuhu as proud and enterprising people,Elder Uwazie said his ambition is to realize a befitting Secretariat for Ohuhu welfare Union as plans are in top gear to perform the foundation of the project come April 2024.
“I am very very passionate about realizing a befitting Secretariat for Ohuhu welfare Union where the Union will be running her day to day activities, this has become overdue”. Elder Okechukwu Johnson said.
Ohuhu is too big to be running her affairs in a private home, that is why we need to get this done now,we will carry every body along in this project and we have the contact” According to the PG.
He noted that the event will feature presentation of awards to prominent Ohuhu Sons and Daughters who have distinguished themselves in service to Ohuhu land and also feature cultural reorientation.
“This festival kick-started during the administration of Rt Hon Obi Aguocha is very important and we must do everything possible to sustain it.it has been proven to be the most effective way to revive some of our cultural heritage that are almost extinct” Elder Okechukwu Johnson Uwazie.
The PG thanked stakeholders, leaders and the Ohuhu traditional institution for their sustained supports for the growth and development of the clan, assuring Ndi Ohuhu of a glorious future.
He also seized the forum and commended Governor Alex Otti for his giant stride across all strata, urging him to carry Ohuhu land in his rebuilding agenda.
Elder Okechukwu Johnson Uwazie while also eulogizing the likes of Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, Ambassador Empire Kanu,Chief Uzodinma Okpara,Rt Hon Obi Aguocha,High Chief Victor Ikeji , traditional Rulers Ohuhu and host of other prominent Sons and Daughters of Ohuhu for their significant contributions in support of the Ohuhu project, noted that Ohuhu people have achieved a lot through unity of purpose.
