EZE INNOCENT NWAIGWE ASSURES TRADITIONAL RULERS WILL PROMOTE QUALITY HEALTH EXERCISES IN LINE WITH GOV ALEX OTTI’S ADMINISTRATION
A call has gone to the traditional Rulers to see themselves as critical stakeholders in achieving effective vaccination programs in Umuahia North local government area.
The Chairman Umuahia North Council of traditional rulers HRM Eze Sir Innocent Adiele Nwaigwe made the call after a sensitization program Organized by Abia Primary Healthcare Development Agency and their partners for chairmen of Traditional Rulers in the Seventeen local government Areas of the state, at the Ministry’s Headquarters Ogurube layout Umuahia, stressed the need for the traditional rulers to mobilize their people at the hinterland, and sensitize them on the need to get their children and wards vaccinated against killer diseases.
Eze Nwaigwe encouraged them to ensure that their subjects present their children for HPV vaccination against cervical cancer which has been flagged off in the state, measles vaccination which will commence from the 18th to the 24th of November 2023.

Speaking at the event, the State social mobilization Officer Primary Health Development Agency Mr. Chukwudi Ukpabi noted that the vaccines for measles for children between 9 months to 5 years, HPV for children especially girl children between 9 years to 14 years, and polio are effective and build their immunity against killer diseases.
He solicited the support of the traditional rulers to ensure effective coverage, pointing out that some schools and families are still rejecting the vaccines, explaining that the support of the traditional Rulers where the school families are will help to make their work easy.
In their remarks Unicef consultants Dr. Nomso Barabara and Dr. Kalu Ifeanyichukwu Of the Sedani group said that the traditional rulers must own the vaccination program by resolving the noncompliance to the vaccination program in their localities, sensitizing their people and helping the vaccinators to access hard to reach places in their communities, and providing security to the vaccinators, as well as ensuring that their subjects visit health centers, post and schools for the vaccinations.
Eze Nwaigwe commended the team for the sensitization program, assuring that traditional Rulers across Umuahia North local government Area of the are committed to the effective coverage of the vaccination programs and will mobilize their subjects to ensure the success of the exercise in their communities.
He assured that the traditional Rulers will not hesitate in keying into exercises that will promote quality health for all in line with the vision of the governor Dr Alex Otti’s led administration in the state.
