OHANEZE NDIGBO WORLD – WIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT: AFRICAN YOUTH SPORTS FEDERATION (AYSOF) PRESIDENT, DR AHMED LAWAL, EZE IFEANYI ANYAOGU, PRESENTS GOLDEN TROPHY TO OHANEZE NDIGBO PRESIDENT GENERAL, CHIEF DR EMMANUEL IWUANYANWU @ OWERRI, IMO STATE.

Ahead of preparations for Ohaneze Ndigbo World – Wide Football Tournament, across the 36 States of Nigeria and FCT Abuja, the President of AYSOF, Dr Ahmed Lawal, and the Organising Secretary, Eze Ifeanyi Anyaogu has presented the Gold Trophy to the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, World – Wide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, for the football tournament.
The football tournament for 2024 season is expected to hold its finals @ the Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Stadium in Enugu, Enugu State.
In an address presented by AYSOF Organising Secretary, Eze Ifeanyi Anyaogu, he expressed gratitude to Chief Iwuanyanwu for the audience.
He said the presence of Dr Lawal is significant at the office of Iwuanyanwu, describing sports as a veritable tool of national integration, peace and unity of the nation.
“AYSOF is so elated by the contributions of Chief Engr Iwuanyanwu to the development of sports in Nigeria and Africa”, Eze Anyaogu, who doubles as Eze Ndigbo @ Kosofe, Lagos State added.
He said that the sports fiesta, will address social ills and criminality, amongst youths, and will expose hidden talents of youths in football.
He also canvass for synergy, and sponsorships of the tournament from Ohaneze Ndigbo, State governments and privileged Nigerians to make 2024 Football tournament for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a huge success.
Also speaking, AYSOF President, Dr Ahmed Lawal applauded Chief Iwuanyanwu for his contributions in sports and describe him as a doyen of Sports in Nigeria and Africa. He urged him to throw his weight behind this project to restore peace, unity in Igboland and Nigeria, noting that promoting sports among youths in the country will address insecurity.
Responding, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu thank AYSOF, for the vision to use sports to accelerate peace and unity of the nation.
He thank Dr Ahmed Lawal for his contributions in sports, describing him as a personal friend, whom he worked together, in the past to to promote sports.
He said the working together, between Dr Ahmed Lawal, from Sokoto State, and Eze Anyaogu from Abia State is symbolic, that peace and togetherness as one Nigeria is achievable. He therefore call on all tribes to emulate the example shown by AYSOF, and to pursue ethnic and religious tolerance among all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliations…
