REP. IDEM FACILITATES APPOINTMENT OF AKWA IBOMITE INTO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOREIGN MISSION

The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rep. Unyime Idem, has facilitated the appointment of an Akwa Ibomite, Edidiong Michael, to represent the Federal Government in its Foreign Mission in the Republic of Guinea Bissau.

A letter, signed by Amb. Zakari Usman, Director Programmes, Office of the Director General, Directorate of Technical Aid Corps, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, indicates that Edidiong Michael, a nurse working at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, is expected to serve in the programme for two years.

The letter urged the Chief Medical Director of FMC, Yenagoa, to approve a two-year leave of absence for her, adding that necessary departure arrangements have commenced for her to travel to Guinea Bissau.

Also, the letter directed that within the time of her foreign engagement, Edidiong Michael shall not suffer any loss of seniority, promotion, or advancement, as the two-year service abroad is regarded as a National Service, in line with public policy.

Handing her the letter in Abuja, Rep. Idem, charged her to be a good ambassador of Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom state and the country.

In his brief admonition, Idem, who chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, told Edidiong “as you go, remember that you bear the flag of our federal constituency, Akwa Ibom state and Nigeria as an Ambassador, so please, represent us with excellence and make us proud. This is the beginning of more opportunities to come, use this one well. God will be with you and perfect the work of your hands.”

Edidiong’s appointment to serve the Federal Government of Nigeria in Guinea Bissau, is one of many opportunities, Rep. Idem has facilitated for Akwa Ibomites, who are currently in the employ of the Federal Government.
