A Testimony of Governor Otti’s Healthcare Reforms by Ukoha Njoku Ukoha
Abia Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center is living up to its name and purpose. The Hospital which was rehabilitated, retrofitted and equipped with modern Medical Equipment and Professional Management Team by the Abia State Government under Governor Alex Otti has recorded major feat and advance in Dental Surgery.
On Friday, October 11th, 2024, the facility carried out a successful Tumor removal Surgery from the right upper jaw of a 17 year old girl. This is the first time the Specialist Hospital is handling such Delicate and Major Dental Surgery Case after the commissioning of the Dental Center on August 2nd, 2024. The procedure known as Maxillectomy or Removal of Tumor along the Maxilla-Upper Jaw was carried out by the Hospital’s Dental Surgical Team led by the Dental and Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Innocent Iwegbu.
The feat is an improvement and upgrade of the basic dental services (scaling and polishing, cavitory filling and tooth extraction) provided by the Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center before now.
