I HAVE A COVENANT WITH GOD TO WORK FOR MY PEOPLE ~ SENATOR AKOBUNDU DECLARES
Senator Austin Akobundu representing Abia Central Senatorial district in the Senate, has said that he owe it as a covenant with God to work for the people of Abia Central and represent them well as their Senate in the Red Chambers, the Senate.
The Senator, who spoke when the Oloko Clan in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State held an interdenominational Thanksgiving Service at Oloko Community Secondary School Ikwuano in his honour and five other eminent sons of Oloko town on Sunday, attributed his emergence as Senator to the grace of the Almighty God.
“I owe my successes to God; I have a covenant with Him to serve my people and I will not do it alone, I will do it with my brothers whom you’ve also recognized, the other Awardees, today.
“We have one role or the other to play. Even before now, we’ve already formed a network, a symbol and relationship that would bring good fruits, good development at all levels in Oloko Clan and Ikwuano in general”, the Senator told the cheering crowd.
Others who were also recognized at the Thanksgiving Service included: Barr Monday Ubani who was recently conferred with the legal title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), the founder of Amadeus University, Oloko, Ikwuano, Dr Godwin Nwabunka, Sir Sunday Nwosu, founder and emeritus Chairman of Nigeria Shareholders Association, Mr Nwazue Arungwa, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Chief David Alaribe, the President of Institute of Chartered Account of Nigeria (ICAN).
Senator Akobundu at the event disclosed that some roads in Oloko are presently under construction like the Oloko-Ogbuebule road and Amizi-Oloko road which will stretch to Utubu; the ecological challenges at Awom Isiugwu, Amaegbu etc and stated that both the gullies and many other roads in the clan will be tackled in no distant time because they are in the budget at the National Assembly.
He revealed that himself and the Senate leadership are working together to fix some roads that will connect Ikwuano to Akwa Ibom State, pointing out that these were some of things he pledged to work on during the campaign period.
Senator Akobundu further asserted that within this period, he has secured positions for youths of Oloko and also those in other LGAs of Abia Central in the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police as well as other federal agencies and commended the proprietor of Amadeus University for setting up a world class university in Ikwuano.
However, the Distinguished Senator informed the people that while he would be working for them, he would also offer his best to other LGAs in Abia Central because, according to him, the six LGAs in the district need good services and development as Oloko and Ikwuano need.
The Awardees also thanked the elders, leadership and traditional rulers of the clan for recognizing them at the event and pledged to work in synergy to develop not only Oloko Clan but Ikwuano in general.
