Senator David Mark Unveils New Opposition Coalition, Adopts ADC as Platform for 2027 Elections
In a bold move to unite Nigeria’s fragmented opposition forces, Senator David Mark, former Senate President and Chairman of the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement in Nigeria, has officially announced the adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the coalition’s political platform for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the official unveiling in Abuja, Senator Mark described the coalition as a historic rescue mission to reclaim Nigeria’s democracy and restore good governance. He accused the current administration of hijacking democratic institutions, suppressing opposition parties, and turning the National Assembly into a mere extension of executive power.
“This coalition is not just about winning power,” Mark stated, “it’s about rebuilding the crumbling pillars of Nigeria’s democracy.” He emphasized the coalition’s commitment to national unity, security, transparency, youth inclusion, and justice.
The new opposition alliance brings together political parties, youth organizations, civil society groups, and concerned Nigerians across the country under the ADC banner. Mark stressed that the coalition welcomes all patriots, regardless of background, and promised an inclusive platform where “the young and old, men and women, farmers and technocrats” will work together for Nigeria’s future.
He also noted that while some coalition members will contest upcoming by-elections under their legacy platforms, the united front remains committed to the ADC for the 2027 elections and beyond.
Senator Mark concluded with a rallying call: “The opposition is united. The platform is ADC. The time is now. The mission is clear: Rescue Nigeria. Rebuild Nigeria. Return power to the people.”
