In a colourful display of tradition, unity and youthful creativity, students, staff and invited guests on Friday, 27 March 2026, celebrated a combined Cultural Day ceremony hosted by Dragon Day Secondary School and Command Children School both situated within the 14 Brigade Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Delivering a welcome address, the Head Teacher, Uma Onwuka highlighted the importance of cultural education in fostering unity and mutual respect among young Nigerians. He explained that the event reflects a vibrant celebration of Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage and a testament to an enduring spirit of national unity.

In her keynote speech, the Special Guest of Honour and Coordinator, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 14 Brigade Chapter, Dr. Shafa’atu Sada Dikko, delivered a heartfelt message that emphasized the need to preserve and celebrate Nigeria’s cultural diversity. She commended the schools for organizing such an impactful event, noting that cultural awareness remains a vital tool for national cohesion and peaceful coexistence.

On his part, the Brigade Education Officer, Major J Opadijo in his remarks, applauded the schools for their collaboration and the students for their outstanding performances, urging them to continue promoting unity through cultural understanding.

The highlight of the event included cultural presentations by students showcasing the rich traditions of major Nigerian ethnic groups, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.

The combined Cultural Day ceremony re-echoes a timeless message that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity.
