*COMMANDER INFANTRY CORPS PAYS MAIDEN OPERATIONAL ASSESSMENT VISIT TO 14 BRIGADE, COMMISSIONS PROJECTS*
The Commander, Nigerian Army Infantry Corps (NAIC), Major General Godwin M Mutkut, on Thursday 25 June 2026 commissioned key infrastructural projects during an operational visit to Headquarters 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Abia State.The Commander Infantry Corps was accompanied on the visit by distinguished delegation comprising the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Major General OA Fadairo Colonel MS Daroda Colonel MM Marwa, Colonel AZ Usman, Commander 82 Provost Group, Commander 82 Military Intelligence Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel SS Ogundele.
Following the inspection of a special mounted quarter guard, Major General Mutkut commissioned a newly constructed road leading to the Officers’ Mess, which was named in his honour in recognition of his exemplary leadership and invaluable contributions to the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps. He also commissioned projects including the newly established 14 Brigade Solar Power House System.
Major General GM Mutkut, while addressing officers and soldiers, conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu Nigeria Army Medal (NAM) commended troops for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to duty.He urged personnel to remain professional and focused in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing the importance of discipline and hard work.
He further cautioned troops against drug abuse and other negative social vices, emphasizing that such behaviour undermines operational effectiveness and military professionalism. He however encouraged personnel to take their duties seriously while maintaining strong family values and treating their families with care and respect.
In recognition of the Brigade’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery, Major General Mukut delegated the Commander, 14 Brigade, Brigadier General AM Dikko, to commission the newly completed Scanning Room at the 14 Brigade Medical Centre.
Highlights of the visit included an operational brief, signing of the visitor’s book, presentation of souvenirs, group photograph and a symbolic tree planting which is in line with the Nigerian Army’s environmental sustainability initiative.
The visit underscores Nigerian Army’s commitment to operational effectiveness, troop welfare, environmental sustainability, and infrastructural development, all geared towards enhancing the capacity of personnel to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
