2027: Chimaobi Anyaso Declares LP Bid to Unseat Benjamin Kalu
Businessman and politician, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has formally declared his intention to contest the Bende Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), setting up a fresh political contest with the incumbent Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
Anyaso, popularly known as OFUJI, has positioned his campaign around people-oriented representation, with emphasis on job creation, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and stronger engagement with communities across Bende.
His emergence as the Labour Party’s candidate has already generated political realignment in Bende, with some stakeholders and political actors publicly declaring support for his ambition.
The 2027 contest is expected to attract significant attention as Anyaso seeks to wrestle the federal constituency from Kalu, who currently represents Bende in the House of Representatives and serves as Deputy Speaker.
With the race gradually taking shape, the contest between Anyaso and Kalu is set to become one of the closely watched political battles in Abia State ahead of the 2027 elections.
