Mother’s Day: Anglican Communion Church to Celebrate With Pomp, Pageantry Memories
The Diocese of Umuahia, Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria,celebrated the 2026 Mothers Sunday with pomp and pageantry the memories of which shall reverberate till the 2027 version.
The annual event which celebrates.motherhood and the virtues of the virtuous woman witnessed the donation of the Canonical pulpits to mothers and featured awards ceremonies, prayer sessions, recitations, dances,drama by the Youth Fellowship,news presentation,Akuko Uwa, and presentation of gifts by the fathers among other spiritually uplifting activities.
Speaking during the decoration of Lady Ifeyinwa Akparanta at All Saints Church,World Bank Housing Estate, Umuahia, Venerable Professor Roland C.Wokocha ,who eulogized the efforts of the awardee and her husband,Engr Sir Steve Akparanta, in planting All Saints Church, during the episcopacy of now Rtd Arch Bishop of Aba Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace the Most Rev’d Dr Uwaoma U.Ezuoke,over thirty years ago, described the unanimous choice of Lady Ifeyinwa Akparanta ,by the mother ,as an eloquent testimony of one of the lepers who returned to show appreciation and was fully healed by Jesus Christ.
Recalling the labour of love by Sir and Lady Akparanta, Venerable Professor Wokocha prayed for the family and urged other Christian families to emulate the shining examples of the awardee and others like Mrs Ijeoma Orjiakor,Mrs Stella Onwukwe, Lady Grace Ogbonna,Mrs Stella Nwabuisi among others.
Speaking during the reception,Sir Akparanta recalled the efforts of his family towards planting All Saints Church which is one of the leading Churches in the Diocese of Umuahia and displayed other awards for him and his wife by their Bishop in the USA, adding that selfless service to God Almighty and humanity is of utmost importance to them.
