*NIGERIAN ARMY DISSOCIATES SELF FROM ALLEGED CRIMINAL IMPERSONATOR*
The attention of Headquarters 14 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to a report circulating on some channels on social media alleging that an individual identified as Lance Corporal Chukwu Ebuka Peter purportedly a serving soldier attached to the 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Abia State, was involved in an act of armed robbery.
The Nigerian Army wishes to categorically state that every soldier has a number to identify authenticity as a personnel of the Nigerian Army also there was no unit mentioned during interrogation under 14 Brigade. Additionally, preliminary checks and records indicate that the suspect is an unscrupulous criminal impersonator falsely parading himself as a member of the Nigerian Army with the intent to perpetrate criminal activities.
The Nigerian Army strongly condemns such act of impersonation and criminality. It is important to emphasize that the Nigerian Army maintains strict standards of discipline, professionalism, and accountability among its personnel. Any verified personnel found culpable in criminal conduct are subjected to due process in accordance with extant military laws and regulations.
The general public is therefore advised to disregard claims associating the suspect to the Nigerian Army. Also, they are encouraged to report suspicious individuals impersonating military personnel to the nearest security agency for prompt action.
