Okpara Road, Ohuhu Ring Road, Others Set for Flag-Off: Hon Akaliro Breaks Years of Neglect

In a historic and transformative development for the people of Ohuhu, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Alex Chioma Otti, has officially approved the flag-off of several long-abandoned but critical road projects across the Ohuhu axis of Umuahia North.

For years, these roads remained in deplorable condition, serving as painful reminders of neglect by successive administrations. Communities were cut off, economic activities slowed, and residents subjected to hardship, especially during the rainy season when erosion and flooding rendered many routes impassable.

Today, that narrative is changing.
At the center of this breakthrough is the Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Anderson Kelechi Akalliro, widely known as “Excess Grace.” Through resilience, strategic engagement, and a deep commitment to the welfare of his people, Hon. Akalliro has delivered what many once considered impossible.

These projects were originally captured in the 2024 budget at a time when Hon. Akalliro stood almost alone in advocating for Ohuhu’s infrastructural needs. His persistence, consistency, and eventual political realignment have now culminated in this landmark achievement, one that will be remembered for years to come.
The roads approved for immediate flag-off include:
Ishiokata Roundabout Erosion Control Project , a critical intervention aimed at addressing severe environmental degradation and safeguarding lives and property.
Ohuhu Ring Road , a strategic network that will enhance mobility and interconnect various communities within Ohuhu.
Okpara Road Corridor , spanning key communities such as Nkata, Amaogwugwu, Umuagu ,Ofeme, opening up rural areas for development and accessibility.

The impact of these projects cannot be overstated. Upon completion, they will:
Drastically improve transportation and reduce travel time
Boost local commerce and attract new investments
Enhance access to schools, healthcare, and markets
Tackle erosion challenges threatening homes and farmlands
Create employment opportunities during and after construction.

Beyond infrastructure, this development represents a restoration of hope and confidence in governance. It sends a clear message that purposeful representation and people-focused leadership can indeed bring about real change.
Hon. Akalliro has continued to distinguish himself as a quiet yet effective leader, one whose actions speak louder than political rhetoric. His “Ohuhu First” philosophy is not just a slogan but a guiding principle that is now visibly transforming the landscape of the constituency.

For Ndi Ohuhu, this is more than just a flag-off , it is the beginning of a new chapter. A chapter defined by progress, inclusion, and sustainable development.
Indeed, the jinx has been broken, and Ohuhu is finally on the path to renewal and prosperity.
