Trade More Estate, Ubani Women Deny Ambushing APC Governorship Candidate: “We Came to Air Our Grievances on Flooding and Other Issues”

Women residents of Trade More Estate, Ubani, have denied reports suggesting that they ambushed the APC governorship candidate, saying their presence was strictly to air their grievances over the flooding ravaging the estate and other challenges confronting residents.

The women said they had gone to FLO FM as concerned residents seeking an opportunity to draw public attention to the difficulties being experienced by families in the estate.
According to them, the persistent flooding has become a major source of concern, with residents reportedly facing difficulties accessing their homes, protecting their properties and moving freely within the community whenever heavy rainfall occurs.
The women explained that their decision to speak publicly was motivated by the need to ensure that the plight of Trade More Estate residents receives the attention of relevant authorities and stakeholders.
“We did not come to ambush anybody. We came to air our grievances and speak about the flooding affecting us and other issues confronting residents of Trade More Estate,” the women said.
They maintained that expressing their concerns through the media was part of their civic responsibility as residents who are directly affected by the situation.
The women further appealed to the state government, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders to urgently investigate the flooding situation in Trade More Estate and work with residents toward finding a lasting solution.
They said that while temporary interventions may provide some relief, the community needs sustainable measures capable of addressing the underlying causes of the recurring flooding. The president noted that they love the government under Dr Alex Chioma Otti who is rebuilding Abia State, noting that they voted him in 2023 and will repeat same come 2027.
They highted the concern by the labour Party candidates especially Rt Hon Obi Aguocha and the deputy speaker Rt Hon Austin Meregini who has never turned their back on the happenings going on in the estate.

The women also called for greater engagement between residents and relevant authorities, stressing that those living in the affected areas should be included in discussions concerning solutions to the problems confronting the estate.
They reiterated that their appearance at the radio station was peaceful and focused on bringing attention to the challenges facing their community.
The residents urged members of the public to view their concerns from the perspective of families living with the consequences of flooding and poor infrastructure, rather than interpreting their efforts to speak out as a confrontation with political actors.

They said their immediate concern remains the safety and welfare of residents, particularly families whose homes and properties are affected whenever flooding occurs.

The women therefore appealed for urgent action and sustained dialogue, saying residents of Trade More Estate, Ubani, deserve a safe and functional living environment.
