*14 BRIGADE REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION AS NSCDC ABIA COMMANDANT PAYS COURTESY VISIT*

The Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko, on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, received the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, Commandant Chukwuemeka Nicholson Odimba, on a courtesy visit at Headquarters 14 Brigade, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, Ohafia.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation towards enhancing security across Abia State.

In his remarks, the NSCDC Commandant acknowledged the Nigerian Army as an indispensable partner in the execution of the Corps’ mandate. He noted that the Corps is currently faced with increasing operational demands arising from a surge in security challenges, including issues related to land disputes, illegal mining activities, and communal rivalries across the state. The Commandant therefore solicited the support of the Brigade, stressing that the NSCDC requires sustained collaboration with the Nigerian Army to effectively address these challenges.

Responding, the Commander 14 Brigade expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the NSCDC for the professionalism and commendable conduct of its personnel in the course of their duties. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to continue supporting the Corps in Abia State in all appropriate capacities, including the provision of operational backup and necessary logistics to enhance effective execution of its operations.

The Commander, however, emphasized that the Nigerian Army does not directly intervene in civil matters such as chieftaincy and land disputes. He clarified that the Army’s role remains to provide the required support to enable relevant security and civil agencies, including the NSCDC, to carry out their statutory responsibilities effectively.
He further lauded the contributions of the NSCDC during joint security operations, particularly cordon and search operations, and called for the sustenance of the existing synergy between both agencies and other stakeholders.
The Commander assured the Commandant that the Brigade’s manoeuvre commanders, as well as Operation CRUSH elements, remain on standby to provide timely and necessary support whenever required, in line with efforts to maintain peace and security in Abia State.
The Commander 14 Brigade also reiterated the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to fostering strong inter-agency collaboration in order to effectively address evolving security challenges and ensure the safety of lives and property within the state.
