14 Brigade Honours Retiring Warrant Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers in Ohafia
The Headquarters of the 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, has honoured retiring Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (WO and SNCOs) for their dedicated service to the nation during a colourful send-off ceremony held at the Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Mess in Ohafia, Abia State.
The event, which took place on Wednesday, June 4, 2026, was graced by the Commander, 14 Brigade, Brigadier General A.M. Dikko, alongside senior military officers, family members, friends, and well-wishers.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief of Staff, Headquarters 14 Brigade, Colonel M.S. Maaji, urged serving personnel to appreciate the retiring officers for their invaluable contributions to the growth and success of the Nigerian Army.
He advised the retirees to prioritize their health, maintain strong family relationships, and adequately prepare for life after military service, noting that retirement marks the beginning of a new chapter rather than the end of service to society.
In his address, Brigadier General Dikko commended the retiring officers for their meritorious service, dedication, and sacrifices in defence of the nation.
The Brigade Commander emphasized the importance of gratitude to God, prudent financial management, healthy living, and maintaining strong family ties after retirement.
He also encouraged serving Senior Non-Commissioned Officers to remain committed to excellence and continue making positive impacts wherever they are deployed.
According to him, the discipline, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated by the retirees throughout their careers remain worthy examples for younger personnel to emulate.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, the Brigade Regimental Sergeant Major, Master Warrant Officer A. Usman, expressed gratitude to the Commander, invited guests, and all attendees for honouring the retiring personnel.
He prayed for God’s protection and guidance upon serving officers and expressed optimism that they too would successfully complete their careers and retire honourably.
The event featured the presentation of souvenirs to the retirees, goodwill messages, and a group photograph session to commemorate the occasion.
The ceremony underscored the Nigerian Army’s tradition of recognizing and celebrating personnel who have served the nation with dedication, professionalism, and honour.
