INAUGURATION OF CARETAKER COMMITTEE FOR OHUHU WELFARE UNION WORLDWIDE
The Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers, in conjunction with the Elders-in-Council, unites and formally inaugurates a new Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the Ohuhu Welfare Union Worldwide and supervise the forthcoming electoral process.
The inauguration took place on Thursday, 30th April 2026, during a joint meeting held at the palace of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Charles Ngwuli.
The newly constituted Caretaker Committee is chaired by Dr. Emeka Okengwu, with Nduka Ogwumike serving as Deputy Chairman and Chief Ogbo Nkwachukwu as Secretary. Other members of the Committee are:

* Chief Emeka Okoro
* Hon. Augustine Onwubiko
* Jones Nwabueze
* Comr. Emmanuel Nwokonna
* Goodluck Njoku
The Committee has been given a clear mandate to review and assess all relevant prior activities relating to the electoral process of the Ohuhu Welfare Union Worldwide. They are to be guided strictly by the Ohuhu Welfare Union Constitution (2006, as amended) and are expected to discharge their duties without fear or favour.
In addition, the Committee is tasked with ensuring that no eligible member who has duly purchased nomination forms is disenfranchised from contesting positions zoned to them. They are also to review the disqualification of Mr. Ekejiuba Ekpo and take appropriate action in the overall interest of fairness, equity, and justice.
The Caretaker Committee will oversee the affairs of the Union pending the emergence of a duly elected leadership and is expected to conclude its assignment within two (2) weeks.
Their appointment takes immediate effect, and they have been charged to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the unity, peace, and progress of Ohuhu land.
