MOUAU GRADUATE EMERGES TOP 3 IN CODET COMPETITION AT 34TH COREN ENGINEERING ASSEMBLY
Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) has recorded another remarkable national achievement as one of its graduates, Arthur Chinonyerem Amadike of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, emerged among the Top Three Best Engineering Graduates in Nigeria at the 2026 Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities (CODET) National Best Engineering Graduate Competition, held as part of the 34th COREN Engineering Assembly.
The prestigious award was presented by the President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN),
Engr. Prof. Sadiq Zubair Abubakar, at the 34th National Engineering Assembly held at Velodrome, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The highly competitive national contest featured 23 universities across Nigeria in the Best Engineering Graduate category, with each institution nominating only one outstanding engineering graduate from the 2024/2025 academic session.
Following a rigorous national examination conducted by CODET, MOUAU’s Chinonyerem
Amadike, who graduated in 2025 with First Class Honours, distinguished himself among the best engineering graduates to secure a joint third-place position, scoring 252 out of 300.
According to the official results released by CODET, the first position was won by Madumere Samuel Onyekachi of Landmark University with 261/300, while Mezie-Oscar Francis of Achievers University, Owo, emerged second with 255/300. Arthur Chinonyerem Amadike of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike shared the third position with Kayode Elizabeth Omolara of the University of Ilorin, with both candidates scoring 252/300.
The accomplishment further reinforces MOUAU’s growing reputation as a leading institution for quality engineering education, innovation and academic excellence. It also reflects the University’s commitment to producing graduates equipped with the technical competence, creativity and problem-solving skills required to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s engineering and technological development.
