Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, established in 1992 by a military decree was said to be a source of revenue for the then government not actually meant to address the housing needs of contributors.

Leader of the FMBN delegation, Utiba T. C., that visited the Federal College of Education Ofeme Ohuhu for staff sensitization, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Management of the Institution.

Utiba, said that it took the leadership of the bank to think outside the box by changing the original concept to allow staff benefit from the deductions in their salaries.

He said that before now they have only one package, “before now we have only National Housing Fund, which in most cases are difficult to access, but today we’ve added, FMBN Home Renovation Loan(FHRL), Rent to Own Housing Scheme, House Construction Loan, among others, which are very easy to access”, he stressed.

The FMBN team, while addressing staff of the Federal College of Education Ofeme Ohuhu, said that “your entire contribution can be given to you if at the end of your service year you have never taken a loan, it will also be given with interest”. He said.

The provost of the Institution, Dr Titus Sunday Ezeme, while declaring the staff sensitization open, appreciated the team for visiting and encouraged them to be transparent in managing staff funds as well as create easy accessibility to the contributors.
