THE NIGERIAN NUCLEAR REGULATORY AUTHORITY COLLABORATES WITH ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND IN THE MANDATE OF PROTECTING LIVES AND ENFORCING REGULATIONS ON NUCLEAR SAFETY

Today, 13/06/2024, at about 1205 hrs, executive members of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority, led by their Zonal Coordinator, Dr. (Mrs.) Evelyn Vincent-Furo, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, psc, fwc, MNIM, fdc, at the Command Headquarters, Umuahia.

The purpose of their visit was to introduce and familiarize themselves with the Commissioner of Police, as well as to inform the CP about their mandate as a regulatory body established by law and approved by the federal government.

Their mission is to enforce the act
of safeguarding lives, properties, and the environment against the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
They regulate medical practices concerning nuclear safety, bringing hospitals under regulatory control by issuing licenses after a series of inspections to ensure the protection of lives and the environment at large.

The CP and his management team heartily received and welcomed them to the Command, pledging full support in enforcing their mandate and stressing its similarities to the primary objectives of the Nigeria Police Force in protecting lives and properties.
