RE: DISCLAIMER, BARR HEZ NWOKOCHA DISASSOCIATE SELF FROM PRESS RELEASE BY CHIEF OKEY IHEDIOHA
_April 30, 2026_
I write to formally disassociate myself from the press release and comments issued by Chief Okey Ihedioha.
I refused to sign the said press release because Chief Ihedioha lacks my mandate, and he does not have the mandate of all members, to make abusive statements against the Ohuhu Traditional Rulers who constituted and empowered our committee.
As a lawyer and a Christian, I was not raised to insult or abuse _Ndi Eze_, or Traditional Rulers, to whom we owe respect in all circumstances. I choose my words carefully. It is unacceptable to label anybody or the Traditional Rulers “disgruntled elements” or to suggest they have taken sides.
The Traditional Rulers rightly observed that our committee was not united and that deep divisions existed among us. We had no common agreement or understanding.
They invited us, heard from us, questioned us, and saw for themselves that we were divided. It cannot be said that they were biased or that they dissolved the committee without a fair hearing. They also noted our inability to put our house in order, as tensions ran high among us.
While we agreed to respect the dissolution, there was no agreement to disparage or ridicule the Traditional Rulers by suggesting they had ulterior motives.
I issue this statement because I have received numerous calls and messages asking why I did not sign the press release and why I chose not to be associated with it.
Signed,
*Bar. Hez Nwokeocha*
