GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI HAS BECOME LABOUR PARTY’S GREATEST CAMPAIGN ASSET AS UMUNNEOCHI RALLIES BEHIND NEW ABIA VISION, HUNDREDS JOIN PARTY*
The Abia State Chapter of the Labour Party has declared that Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has become the party’s greatest campaign asset ahead of the 2027 General Elections, as his outstanding performance in office continues to attract unprecedented goodwill, public confidence and massive political support across Abia State.
The party stated that in just three years, Governor Otti has redefined governance through visible infrastructural development, improved security, quality healthcare, educational reforms, prudent management of public resources and transparent leadership, making the Labour Party the preferred political platform for Abians and residents alike.
According to the party, the overwhelming reception accorded Governor Otti across different parts of the state is a clear indication that the people have embraced the New Abia vision. The grand civic reception held in Umunneochi Local Government Area yesterday 24th July 2026 has once again demonstrated that the Governor’s performance has become the strongest campaign message for the Labour Party.
The Abia State Labour Party extends its profound appreciation to the leadership, executives, women, youths and thousands of faithful members of the Labour Party in Umunneochi Local Government Area for the massive turnout and impressive display of solidarity during the civic reception in honour of Governor Alex Otti.
The party notes that the event was not only a celebration of purposeful leadership but also a demonstration of the confidence the people of Umunneochi have reposed in Governor Otti’s administration and the Labour Party.
One of the major highlights of the event was the formal reception of hundreds of new members into the Labour Party, led by the former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Governorship Election, Hon. Jasper Uche.
The new members were formally received into the Labour Party by the State Chairman, Hon. Peter Azubuike, who led members of the State Working Committee (SWC) in welcoming them into the party.
Hon. Peter Azubuike assured the new entrants that the Labour Party remains a home for every progressive-minded Abian and operates on the principles of fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity. He emphasized that every member enjoys equal rights and opportunities from the very day they join the party, urging the new members to work together with existing party faithful to consolidate the gains of the New Abia agenda.
Governor Alex Otti, while addressing the gathering, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, balanced development and equitable distribution of democratic dividends across every community in Abia State.
The Governor assured the people that the long-awaited Mmam Bridge, already captured in the 2026 Budget, would be delivered alongside other strategic infrastructure projects designed to accelerate the development of Umunneochi Local Government Area.
He further announced that the State’s Green Shuttle Electric Bus Programme would soon be extended to Umunneochi following the arrival of more than twenty additional electric buses. According to him, the new transport routes connecting Umuahia-Umunneochi and Umuahia-Okigwe-Uturu-ABSU will improve mobility, reduce transportation costs and stimulate economic activities within the area.
Governor Otti also reaffirmed his administration’s uncompromising stance on security, assuring residents that criminals would continue to find no hiding place in Abia State.
