Today marks a historic and defining moment for the people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency as the Nigerian Senate concured and passed the bill establishing the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ikwuano, thereby completing the legislative process in the National Assembly.
The bill (HB 1605), sponsored by Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, had earlier passed all legislative stages in the House of Representatives before progressing through the Senate. With today’s approval, the National Assembly has now spoken with one voice in support of the establishment of this landmark institution in Ikwuano, Abia State.
This achievement represents another major legislative milestone and a significant institutional empowerment dividend attracted to the Federal Constituency through purposeful, visionary, and result-oriented representation.
The establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ikwuano, is more than the creation of a healthcare institution; it is a strategic investment in the future of our people.
