NIGERIAN ARMY REASSURES RESIDENTS OF OHAFIA ON THEIR SAFETY, DISMISSES RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT ORDER
*NIGERIAN ARMY REASSURES RESIDENTS OF OHAFIA ON THEIR SAFETY, DISMISSES RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT ORDER*
The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to false messages circulating on some social media platforms directing residents of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State to remain indoors and imposing restrictions on movement and commercial activities on Friday, 19 June 2026. The residents are reacting to a purported rumour that a truck load of persons believed to be Fulani Herdsmen were seen asking directions to the Local Government Area.
A social media post also claimed that Ohafia youths rescued some abducted girls when no such report had been to any security agency.
The Nigerian Army wishes to state that such information is false and was not reported to any military formation or agency. Residents are therefore urged to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear. Members of the public are further advised to disregard unverified messages capable of causing unnecessary panic and encouraged to obtain information only from official and credible sources.
The Commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko assures the good people of Ohafia that adequate measures have been taken in collaboration with other security agencies, to maintain peace and ensure the protection of lives and property. The Army and its partners in this patriotic task remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Ohafia and its environs.
